The photo shows the three concrete barges on the west side (upstream) of Lock 9 of the Erie (Barge) Canal, a.k.a. Mohawk River in Rotterdam Junction,
New York, which is just west of Schenectady, New York. The view is from the south looking to the north standing on the
route 103 bridge that crosses the river here. When the canal is in operation the water is much higher and the barges below the water line.
