5 - 4- 3- 2- 1 THUNDERBARGE IS GO!
Launching from Tracey&Wayne Island (Canvey in other
words), the awesome Thunderbarge 2, worthy successor to the
ruthlessly demolished world-famous Concrete Barge, takes off
for another International (mostly Essex) Rescue. Deep within
her lie several pods carrying 9ft mini FCBs. These mini
concrete barges were first developed in WW2 (a fact recently
uncovered by D-Day historian David Bullock), and each has its
own speciality: deep sea drowning brat rescue, drilling into
soft mud for a winkle supper etc.
The picture here shows Thunderbarge 2 taking off for
Benfleet railway station where a drunken chav has got his
baseball cap caught in the tracks, and will have his gormless
head sliced off if Thunderbarge doesn't get to him. However,
the crew know that with C2Cs level of service they've probably
got another 3 hours until a train is due, so there's plenty of
time to stop off at the excellent Labworth Restaurant for
lobster a la creme, washed down with a crisp Bordeaux.
