It is a well known fact, mostly around the Kismet Park area, that the original inspiration for The Beatles 'Yellow Submarine' was the Concrete Barge of Canvey Island.

Born in 1943, it became the focus of British beat combos after the Shadows performed their famous gig on the barge. Other bands jumped on the bargewagon and the FCB became the toast of the Carnaby set. The massive hole in the side, wrongly attributed to beaching the barge during the 1953 floods, was actually made by Keith Moon's head.

The Canvey Concrete Barge became THE icon of peace and love during the 1967 summer of love, and when the Maharishi Yogi told John Paul Ringo and George, 'lads, get off your arses, remove ridiculous clobber and go and imortalise gorgeous barge with very funny cartoon film and embarassingly awful songs', the Beatles heeded the wise words of the senile bearded one.

The film and album, 'Yellow FCB' was almost in the can when the dark forces of the nearby Yacht Club stepped in. As the people's barge was technically on their sand, they were overwhelmed by ravishing greed, a bit more than usual, and demanded the sum of £25, about £6 Billion in today's money, from The Beatles record company. The rest is history - 'FCB' was hastily changed to 'submarine' and all references to Canvey Island were removed from the film. The concrete barge, mirroring the life of John Lennon, never quite regained it's sixites edge and became increasingly reclusive. On the mornining of 5/22/2003, it was unexpectedly and pointlessly murdered.

This auction is for a jpeg copy of what is thought (by those in the know at Kismet Park) to be the only surviving animation cel from 'Yellow FCB'. The lucky high bidder will have the image sent by email.
