It is a well known fact that one of England's most popular pop groups,
The Shadows, played an impromtpu gig on Canvey Island's imortal Concrete
Barge in the early 1960s.
The crazy wild gig was filmed and made headline news in Melody
Maker, Canvey News and Woman's Realm. The zany barge-top antics of
Hank and the boys (who can forget Cliff setting fire to his bongos
and mooning at the yatch club squares?) were later emulated by
recording artists such as The PO and The Beatles. In 1983 Elvis
Costello, Dr Feelgood and The Clash played a low-profile gig in the
barge, but it was poorly attended as a Henry Cow gig ten miles away
proved to be a big draw with the local hep cats.
This auction is for the picture of the imaginary Shadows EP. It
will be rushed to you by email in jpg format. Print it yourself - my
Hewlet Packard is a pile of shite.
