YES ITS TRUE! (well it isn't but then lets not
that ruin a good seafaring yarn).
Canvey Yatched club in association with UNESCO have bowed to
massive public pressure (Thanks Andrew and, er me, and er, thats it)
and have fully restored these two World Herritage Trust monuments.
After much debate over wether to rebuild in Afganistan or Canvey
Island.. both renowned for wanton destruction of their cultural
heritage, It was decided that Canvey Point would be the location of
the newly restored "Concrete Barge Bamiyan Buddha". The deal was
sweetened by free membership to the Yatched club to all UNESCO staff
and local councilors.
Carved into the shell beach and base of the very same sea wall
our beloved barge was sacrificed to save during the Canvey floods,
this magnificent sight can be seen from afar as Southend-on-Sea Pier
if the winds blowing in the right direction and you're standing on a
100ft platform.
